Artist Statement

I will always be grateful to my father for giving me my first camera on my 20th birthday. That camera started my artistic journey. From photography I eventually gravitated toward painting when I realized my photos began to look more like paintings.

The transition from photography to painting was gradual. At first, I dabbled in watercolour, but soon realized that oil on canvas would give me the right medium to express my ideas.

I have experimented with many processes to achieve my goals, but now I work from a photograph to produce multiple sketches.  From there I choose the one that best captures my idea and then I complete a watercolour study. The next phase is to capture the watercolour study with oil on canvas or panel.

I live to learn and try different things with my paintings, so who knows what the future will bring!
